About Us

Orca Swim School was founded in 1999 by Bruce and Cori Myka. They started the school for the purpose of offering high quality lessons to children and adults in the belief that learning to swim is an individual journey. Their goal is to teach people how to be safe in and around the water without fear or stress by teaching them how the body works in the water.

Their mission is to offer a program that makes positive connections between the instructors and students to maximize each student's potential. To do this, Orca Swim School features small groups where each student is taken care of as an individual. Instructors are highly qualified, and consistent schedules make it easy for students to become confident in the water.

Cori and Bruce are both trained instructors with the American Red Cross for WSI (Water Safety Instructor), Lifeguarding, CPR for the professional rescuer, and First Aid. They have also attended training and conferences with NSSA (National Swim School Association) and have been mentored by many wonderful teachers in the field of swimming. Both Cori and Bruce have more than 15 years of work in the field.
